CASEY + SHELBY

HOME TRULY IS WHERE THE HEART IS, AND FOR HOUSE OF HART, IT'S A SPECIAL PLACE NAMED AFTER OUR MATERNAL GRANDMOTHER'S MAIDEN NAME, HARTFIELD. INSPIRED BY THE LOVE OF FAMILY THAT MOTIVATES US TO BE OUR BEST, OUR IN-HOME OFFICE AND GARAGE STUDIO ARE WHERE WE METICULOUSLY HANDCRAFT EACH DESIGN. HOUSE OF HART IS THE DREAM OF TWO SISTERS, DEDICATED TO SHARING OUR PASSION FOR THE ART OF LETTERPRESS AND CREATING UNFORGETTABLE EXPERIENCES.

We're those two sisters, and our journey mirrors one another. Growing up in Southwest Houston, our home was always filled with family and friends. Both Texas A&M alumni, we joined the same sorority and even shared a house during our college days. After graduating, we returned to Houston, living just five minutes apart, pursuing careers in the energy industry. While we couldn't be more grateful for the experiences and opportunities these lives have afforded us, we both felt the pull to build something of our own!

Why we stumbled upon letterpress, we can't remember, but let's call it kismet! While we were smitten when we saw what cotton paper, ink and type could become the history of the craft and attention to each and every piece that is fed through a press is what made us fall in love.

OUR PRESSES ARE AN INTEGRAL PART OF OUR HOUSE OF HART FAMILY. THEY AFFORD US THE VERSATILITY FOR PRINTING JOBS OF ALL TYPES. WE ARE HONORED TO CONTINUE THEIR STORY THROUGH BEING APART OF YOURS.

1901 CHANDLER & PRICE

It didn't take long after we began searching for a press of our own that we found the one! A couple in longview had saved her from being sent to the scrapyard after the original owner retired, and were now looking for a good home that would carry on her legacy. Under all of the rust, grease and dirt from living in a barn, we saw that this 1901 Chandler & Price platen press could be restored to her former glory!

VANDERCOOK NO. 4

The newest member of the family is our Vandercook No. 4 Proof Press! While the Chandler & Price was a labor of love, in this case, distance made the heart grow fonder. We waited for her for six months as she was loving restored by Beyond Letterpress in Gloucestershire, United Kingdom and traveled 4,761 miles to our home in Houston, TX.
